Rhymney Silurian Choir
I joined The Rhymney Silurian Choir in 1993, a passion of mine and a joy to be part of my life. I am top tenor (remember Kevin, Brian and Dicky Dump you should be honoured to be at the same table as a top tenor!!!) and committee man and I am extremly proud of our achievements as a team throughout this time.
Since joining the choir I have been involved in various concerts, weddings, etc. We have also travelled to many countries including Spain, Gemany, France and Norway to name a few, singing in some outstanding locations.
We have made many special friends throughout the group which will always remain in our thoughts and memories. It is a privilege to be part of such a great choir, a part of my life I am very proud to have achieved.
Memories from others
We travelled to Cornwall for the weekend for a few concerts upon arriving and getting ready for the first concert John had unpacked his clothes only to find that he had packed a new shirt which was actually too big and he could not wear this on stage, without uniform no-one went on stage so John went to Kevin's room to see if he had a spare shirt only to find that Kevin had packed his son's shirt which was too small for him to wear, things looking desperate and looking like two singers down we had to think of something. John the ever resourceful quickly gave kevin his large shirt which fitted him and he took the smaller shirt and left to get ready, downstairs we all meet both Kevin and John dressed unsure how he had made this happen but ready to go. Later on John decided to let us all in on his secret weight loss and took off his blazer to show the shirt on and buttoned in the front with tie we were all amazed, then he turned around and all we saw was two halves of the shirt cut straight up the middle to give extra room, there wasn't a member who didn't laugh, but the show did go on!

On another trip the choir travelled to Spain and John & Glenys travelled out a week earlier, to soak up the sun and explore the local area. We were staying in villas and by the time the choir arrived we were exhausted, hot and bothered by all the travelling, we were greated at the villas by John and Glenys. John by the bar with a bevvie ready for the boys and sat in his swimshorts encouraged us all to take a dip to cool us down as he had been in the pool all morning as it was just teh right temperature and was chilled and relaxed. Most of the men jumped straight in and gasped the pool was freezing and John sat there laughing, always ready for a joke and a laugh.
